TASC is proud to announce the 10th National Ambulance Memorial Service will be taking place on the 7th September 2023 at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire.

For the last 19 years, The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC), formerly The Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund, have held a national service to honour, remember and thank the ambulance community members in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey, Gibraltar, and the Isle of Man, who are no longer with us.

Since its creation, the event has gone from strength-to-strength, and previous services have seen over 230 people from all over the UK attend to honour ambulance staff who have died, including senior representatives of ambulance services, the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives (AACE), the Independent Ambulance Association (IAA), College of Paramedics, and the Air Ambulance.

Originally held every two years, TASC have recently acquired additional funding from AACE and the IAA, which means the service can now being held annually.

Daren Mochrie, Chief Executive Officer of North West Ambulance Service, and the Chair of AACE, said:

“AACE is proud to continue supporting this event which is a most fitting tribute to the dedication and commitment of the ambulance staff and volunteers we have lost in the past year.”

Diane Scott, TASC’s Chair and a former Deputy CEO of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said:

“It is a privilege for TASC to arrange and host the National Ambulance Memorial Service. Over the years many people have told us how much they appreciated having a service where they could go to pay their respects and remember their friends, colleagues, and family. Thanks to support from AACE and ambulance services we can now provide a bigger, better, and more regular event to pay tribute to our departed ambulance family.”

The 2023 memorial service is being held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire on the 7th September 2023. The event is open to anyone who would like to attend and pay tribute. If you are interested in attending the event, please click to register your attendance.

The National Ambulance Memorial Service will begin with an indoor service which includes a poignant candle lighting ceremony for the fallen. Following the indoor service, attendees will walk down in a procession to the ambulance memorial garden where a Roll of Honour will be read out for ambulance staff and volunteers who have passed away since the last memorial service.

The Roll of Honour is currently hosted on TASC’s website where colleagues, friends and loved ones can post tributes and photos of those who have passed away.
