Donna came to TASC as she was in debt, struggling with her finances, and living in her overdraft. TASC put her in touch with debt experts and helped her through the bankruptcy process. Here’s Donna’s story:
“I was a co-owner of a rental property business but both properties were in negative equity and I was making large monthly debt repayments which forced me to live paycheck-to-paycheck in my overdraft with no money left over at the end of the month. I was constantly stressed about how I was going to cope and terrified to open my post in case there was another letter demanding money.
I first heard about TASC in my induction when I started working for London Ambulance Service, and my manager reminded me about the support they offered when I told her I was struggling. At that point, I didn’t have much to lose, and it was so easy to contact them, so I gave them a call and spoke to a very helpful lady who explained the process of applying for support.
TASC referred me to a debt management service to help assess my current situation and it was recommended that I apply for bankruptcy to clear my existing debt and improve my financial wellbeing. With a heavy heart, I agreed to apply for bankruptcy, but TASC was wonderful and stepped in to provide the funding for the bankruptcy fees as well as a list of solicitors who could help with the legal issues surrounding my business.
Throughout the entire process, I felt like there was someone in my corner who had my best interests at heart. The team were so understanding and were there for me every step of the way.
