Russell worked for the London Ambulance Service for 13 years, initially as a call taker and dispatcher in the Emergency Operations Centres in Waterloo and Bow, and then as Emergency Ambulance Crew and solo Fast Response Driver, based at Homerton and Shoreditch Ambulance Stations. He died in July 2019, whilst on the LAS’s “Paramedic Academy”.
