“With TASC’s help I was able to return to work with a different view and perspective. I may have further issues along the way but with the strategies I now have, I will hopefully find it much easier to manage and understand them”

Daniel, Paramedic, East Midlands

After working as a Paramedic for over 10 years, Daniel went to a series of traumatic jobs that left him feeling devastated, lost and unable to face any more death. He started experiencing anxiety and depression, and every night he had horrible thoughts that made it difficult for him to sleep. Daniel’s symptoms became even worse when he lost a loved one, and he was unable to carry on working.

Daniel’s manager recognised that he needed help and signposted him to TASC. Our Wellbeing Supporting Team assessed Daniel’s case and recommended he have six support sessions with our in-house counsellor for traumatic bereavement.

Daniel said:

“It was a tough few weeks, but my counsellor, David, was brilliant with me. He was so approachable and kind, and genuinely helped me at a very difficult time. He made me feel confident enough to share some issues that I’ve been burying for almost 20 years and I’ve been able to process what happened and have achieved closure. David also gave me a number of suggestions and strategies for me to use in difficult situations.

With TASC’s help I was able to return to work with a different view and perspective. I may have further issues along the way but with the strategies I now have, I will hopefully find it much easier to manage and understand them.”
