We are proud to share that Carl Ledbury, one of our long-serving Trustees at The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC), has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the ambulance community.
Based in Oldbury, Carl began his career as a paramedic in 1986, dedicating over 40 years to West Midlands Ambulance Service in various operational and support roles. His unwavering commitment to the ambulance service and to supporting colleagues both during and after his active service is widely respected.
Carl was a passionate advocate for the former Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund, which led to his appointment as a Trustee when TASC was formed in 2015. Since then, he has been instrumental in helping deliver mental health support, physical rehabilitation, and financial wellbeing services to ambulance staff across the UK.
Carl also plays a key ceremonial role in the ambulance service as the National Coordinator for the Ambulance Services Representatives. He has represented the profession at major national events including the National Service of Remembrance, Her Majesty The Queen’s Funeral, and the Coronation of King Charles III.
Even in retirement, Carl remains actively involved, serving as a member of West Midlands Ambulance Service’s ceremonial unit and supporting dignified funerals for ambulance personnel.
