The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) is delighted to welcome Dawn Poulson Whelan to its Board of Trustees, who officially joined the Board on 1 September 2026.

Dawn brings over 22 years’ experience across the ambulance sector, having progressed through the service from Emergency Medical Dispatcher to senior operational, governance and national leadership roles.

Her extensive understanding of ambulance services and the challenges faced by those who work within them will bring valuable insight to TASC’s Board, helping us ensure that the support we provide continues to reflect the real experiences and needs of our ambulance community.

Dawn is particularly passionate about championing the needs of ambulance staff with disabilities or those who are neurodivergent. She founded the National Ambulance Disability Network in 2020 and served as its National Chair until 2026, leading work to improve inclusion, wellbeing and workplace culture across UK ambulance services.

Today, alongside working towards her Professional Doctorate in Emergency Services Management, Dawn is a Principal Consultant at Danann Consultancy Ltd, supporting emergency services and public sector organisations with workforce development, equality, diversity and inclusion, leadership and organisational culture.

Dawn said:

“I’m delighted to be joining TASC’s Board of Trustees. Having spent more than two decades working within the ambulance sector, I’ve seen first-hand the pressures our people face and the difference the right support can make. I’m looking forward to helping TASC continue to make a real difference to ambulance staff, volunteers and student paramedics.”

TASC CEO Karl Demian said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dawn to TASC. Her extensive knowledge of the ambulance sector, combined with her passion for inclusion, wellbeing and supporting our people, will be a real asset to the charity. I’m looking forward to working with her as we continue to strengthen the support we provide.”

TASC Chair of the Board of Trustees, Tracy Nicholls, added:

“Dawn brings exceptional knowledge and experience to our Board, complementing the skills and expertise already represented by her fellow trustees. Her insight into the ambulance sector and the challenges faced by its people will be vital as we continue to develop TASC and work towards our goal of a world where no one in the ambulance community is left to struggle alone. Welcome to the team, Dawn.”
