For this year’s Remember A Charity In Your Will Week, we’re raising awareness about the importance of having a Will and the huge impact you can have on the ambulance community by leaving TASC a gift in your Will.
Leaving TASC a gift in your Will is a generous and caring way to support our cause and leave a lasting legacy for the UK’s lifesavers when they are struggling with their mental, physical or financial wellbeing. The average amount of money left to charities in a Will is just over £3,000 and you don’t have to be wealthy to leave TASC a gift. Even small amounts can make a big difference, for example:
- £500 can pay for 50 people to receive online wellbeing support for anxiety or dealing with stress at work
- £1,040 can pay for two people to receive 10 hours of physiotherapy when they’ve been injured in the line of duty
- £2,000 can pay for 40 hours of counselling for people struggling with their mental health, including depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD
- £3,400 can pay the bankruptcy fees of five people to help them clear their debts and take the first step towards better financial wellbeing
Jasmin Rana, Director of Income Generation and Support Engagement said:
“At TASC we are aware of the lasting impact of previous gifts in Wills have made on the services we provide to support more of our Ambulance community. They are crucial to our charity’s work – both now and long into the future.
It’s a little-known fact that many charities wouldn’t survive without gifts in Wills and by remembering TASC in this way, you’re ensuring that our life changing work lives on and that we can continue to support the wellbeing of ambulance staff, their family members and ambulance volunteers for years to come.”
Despite a Will being one of the most important documents you will ever own, research has found around two-thirds of people don’t currently have one and 60% of those with a Will have never updated it.
Making a Will is easy to put off, in fact of those who don’t have a Will over half say they just haven’t go around to it. However, having a Will is the only way to be sure your wishes are carried out after you’re gone. If you pass away without a Will you will be ‘intestate’ and your estate may not automatically pass to who you would wish it to go to and there will be no way to ensure your desire to support the causes close to your heart are met. For more information about intestate visit the UK government website.
