The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) has released a new episode of its podcast, shining a spotlight on the essential work of Freedom to Speak Up Guardians across the UK’s ambulance services.
In this episode, TASC CEO Karl Demian speaks with Kim Blakeburn, Freedom to Speak Up Guardian at South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Lauren Dun, Head of Wellbeing, Occupational Health and Lead FTSU Guardian at South Western Ambulance Service.
Together, they explore the crucial role Guardians play in ensuring ambulance staff feel safe and supported to raise concerns, the challenges and barriers that can make speaking up difficult, and the cultural changes needed to foster open, honest, and supportive workplaces.
Listeners will also hear real insights into how Guardians help create positive change across the ambulance sector—supporting colleagues, improving wellbeing, and driving continuous improvement for staff and patients alike.
