More than 180 golfers came together at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club on Friday 4 July to support The Ambulance Staff Charity, raising over £1,500 during Captain Kevin Barry’s annual Captain’s Day event.

The day brought together members, guests and local businesses in a fantastic show of community spirit. Alongside the golf competition, fundraising activities included a raffle and sponsorship of all 18 holes by local companies, helping to generate vital funds for TASC.

Kevin Barry, Captain of Cricket St Thomas Golf Club for 2026, selected TASC as his chosen charity for his captaincy and has committed to organising a series of fundraising events throughout the year to support the charity’s work. TASC provides essential wellbeing, mental health, financial and bereavement support to current and former ambulance staff and their families when they need it most.

Karl Demian, Chief Executive Officer of TASC, said:

“We are incredibly grateful to Kevin for choosing TASC as his charity during his year as Captain and for the tremendous effort he has put into fundraising on our behalf. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Cricket St Thomas Golf Club for their outstanding generosity, enthusiasm and support. Raising more than £1,500 at Captain’s Day is a fantastic achievement and reflects the kindness and community spirit of the club, its members, sponsors and everyone who took part.

Every pound raised helps us continue providing vital support to ambulance staff across the UK during some of the most challenging times in their lives. Partnerships like this make a genuine difference, and we cannot thank Kevin and the club enough for their amazing support.”

Kevin Barry, Captain of Cricket St Thomas Golf Club, said:

“It has been a privilege to support TASC as my chosen charity this year. The work they do for ambulance staff and their families is truly remarkable, and I wanted to help raise awareness as well as much-needed funds. I am incredibly proud of the generosity shown by our members, guests, local businesses and everyone who supported Captain’s Day. Together we’ve raised a fantastic amount, and I know these funds will help TASC continue its invaluable work. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made the day such a success.”

TASC would also like to thank the many local businesses that sponsored the event and everyone who donated prizes, purchased raffle tickets and supported the fundraising throughout the day.
