All Woman Choir Singing Up A Storm For Ambulance Charity

An all female choir is hoping to hit the right note with music fans by raising money for TASC, The Ambulance Staff Charity through their singing.
The All Woman choir, which has branches in Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent, in Staffordshire, has produced a single, “There’s A Hero”, and made it available to download on iTunes and Spotify.

The choir, which has a membership of more than 300 ladies, is raising money for TASC, as well as The Fire Fighters Charity, in response to recent terror attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire disaster.

All Woman’s founder and Musical Director, Liz Talbot, said: “In light of all the terrible things that have been going on in recent weeks we wanted to commemorate the wonderful work that TASC and the Fire Fighters Charity do.

“There has rightly been a lot of support for the people affected by Grenfell and the terrorist incidents, but we wanted to support those people who helped the people. Our members were determined to recognise the courageous work of emergency staff over the past few weeks during so many terrible incidents.”

“Rather than do an in-house collection we thought we would do something through our love for singing.”

Liz, 43, who is originally from Stoke but now lives in Stafford, added that “There’s A Hero”, which was released by country and western singer Billy Gilman in 2000 when only 12 years old, was one of the choir’s favourite songs.

“The song talks about there being a hero in everybody’s heart and how we can all find strength through will and determination. The words are very pertinent and really appropriate to the causes that we are raising money for.”

People wishing to support the fire and ambulance charities can download the track on iTunes or Spotify at a cost of just 79 pence. “We won’t know until August how many hits we’ve had and any revenue we’ve earned, but I know there’s been quite a positive response,” she said.

The All Woman choir was founded by music teacher Liz six years ago, since when it has raised more than £5,000 for numerous charities. The choir meets weekly and performs concerts across Staffordshire, including regular sell out shows at Hanley’s Victoria Hall and The King's Hall in Stoke.

Liz concluded: “It would be lovely to think that our local singing ladies can show support and appreciation for the overwhelming work and heroic jobs that our service men and women do, and that plenty of appreciative listeners download our song.”
