Our History

TASC The Ambulance Staff Charity was launched in April 2015 and takes forward the work of its predecessor, the Ambulance Services Benevolent Fund (ASBF).

The ASBF was founded in 1986 by the then President of the Association of Chief Ambulance Officers, Norman Lakin.  He, Harry Wade, Gron Roberts, David Larkin and Gordon Turnbull decided to form a National Ambulance Services Charity.  The charity has grown over the years and in 2003 Amcare UK and in 2014 Beds and Herts Benevolent Funds dedicated their funds to the Charity.

For over 25 years the ASBF has been providing financial and personal support to ambulance services staff facing difficulties.  This was due to the commitment of a small team of dedicated volunteers and Trustees who have guided the charity to where it is today.
